About
Surendra Tiwari is a Founding Lifetime Member and Executive Committee Member of Parbat Samaj. He was born in Phalewas–4, Mudikuwa, and currently resides in Banasthali, Kathmandu. By profession, he is an Advocate and Corporate Litigation Lawyer, and serves as the Managing Partner of Imperial Law Associates, a leading corporate law firm in Nepal.
Mr. Tiwari has extensive professional experience in corporate law and corporate litigation, with specialized expertise in foreign direct investment (FDI), cyber law, information technology law (IT Law), privacy and data protection law, information, communications and technology law (ICT Law), as well as civil and criminal litigation. He primarily heads the litigation department of the firm.
He completed a five-year B.A. LL.B. degree from Nepal Law Campus, Faculty of Law, Tribhuvan University, and later earned an LL.M. in Corporate and Financial Law from O.P. Jindal Global University, Jindal Global Law School, India.
Throughout his legal career, Mr. Tiwari has advised and represented foreign investors, telecommunication service providers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), multinational IT companies, national-level newspapers, national and international construction companies, international hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and private individuals in a wide range of corporate, civil, and criminal matters.
In addition to his legal practice, he is deeply involved in Internet governance and digital policy initiatives. He has actively participated in and organized various national and international Internet governance programs, including the Nepal Internet Governance Forum (Nepal IGF), Nepal School on Internet Governance (npSIG), Indian School on Internet Governance (inSIG), and the Asia Pacific School on Internet Governance (apSIG).
Mr. Tiwari currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the Internet Society Nepal Chapter (ISOC Nepal Chapter), Chair of the Multi-Stakeholder Group of Youth Internet Governance Forum Nepal (Youth IGF Nepal), and Director of Open Internet Nepal. He has also served as the Former Regional Head for Nepal at the World Cyber Security Forum (WCSF). Beyond civil and criminal litigation, he is widely recognized as a leading cyber and ICT lawyer in Nepal, particularly in matters relating to cyber law and technology regulation.
